Take a two-hour drive from Kochi to witness the grandeur of the Chimmini Dam in Thrissur district, which is located adjacent to the renowned Chimmini Wildlife Sanctuary. Established in 1984, it is a captivating haven of rare flora and fauna within lush tropical forests. It serves as a perfect habitat for various species, including elephants, sambars, gaurs, Malabar squirrels, and sloth bears. The dam provides an idyllic spot for picnics, attracting both locals and international visitors. 

The Forest Department conducts trekking and bamboo rafting programs, allowing visitors to explore this biodiverse sanctuary. The reservoir and the Chimmini Dam share borders with the Mangalam Dam and the Parambikulam Wildlife Reserve.
