Nelluvai Sree Dhanwanthari Temple

Sree Dhanwanthari Temple at Nelluvai is one of the most archaic temples of Lord Dhanwanthari in India.

Situated in the Erumappetti panchayat under the Thalappilly taluk of Thrissur district, the scriptures state that the idol was installed by the Ashwani Devas and was also worshipped by Vasudeva in the Dwapara Yuga. The Oushada Prasada offered to devotees at this temple is fabled for its medicinal values. Often referred to as Mukkudi, the offering is prepared everyday under the guidance of Kuttancherry Manu Mooss, as he is the only one who knows the secret recipe of the prasadam or offering. Dhanwanthari, believed to be the physician of the devas, is the primary deity here. Popular belief is that all sorts of ailments will be cured by worshipping Lord Dhanwanthari. Evidently, there is an inflow of a large number of devotees into the temple everyday for the same purpose.
